bleh
I have an assignment due today
YAY!

wanna see?
Homework # 2
1) A 10-story office building has the floor plan of the following figure for each floor. A local network is to be installed that will allow attachment of a device from each office on each floor. Attachment is to take place along the outside wall at the baseboard. Cable or wire can be run vertically through the indicated closet and horizontally along the baseboards. The height of each story is 10 feet. What is the minimum total length of cable or wire required for bus, tree, ring, and star topology? Which floor’s closet should house the center of star?
• Bus topology(15 points)
o Horizontal Length = _________ feet
o Vertical Length = ___________ feet
o Total Length = _____________ feet• Tree topology(15 points)
o Horizontal Length = _________ feet
o Vertical Length = ___________ feet
o Total Length = _____________ feet• Ring Topology(15 points)
o Horizontal Length = _________ feet
o Vertical Length = ___________ feet
o Total Length = _____________ feet• Star Topology(20 points)
o Horizontal Length = _________ feet
o Vertical Length = ___________ feet
o Total Length = _____________ feet
o Which floor’s closet should house the center of star?2) Define the following parameters for a switching network:
N = number of hops between two given end systems
L = Message length in bits
B = data rate, in bits per second (bps), on all links
P = fixed packet size, in bits
H = overhead (header) bits per packet
S = call setup time in seconds
D = propagation delay per hop in secondsFor N = 4, L = 3200, B = 9600, P = 1024, H = 16, S = 0.2, D = 0.001, compute the end-to-end delay for circuit switching, virtual circuit packet switching, and datagram packet switching. Assume that there are no acknowledgments. Ignore processing delay at the nodes.
• circuit switching (10 points),
• datagram packet switching (10 points)
• virtual circuit packet switching (15 points),Due: February 8, 2006.
I also gotta call that guy back about the job today
tried yesterday and no luck. His mother may have passed away.
we'll see
also this is gross

I think I'm getting a job...again
looks like I'll be getting some part-time work.
an old friend of my mother's has an opening for a part-time network administrator.
apparently they used to have a full time guy who split and ran off with all their software install discs.
pretty funny...
but I interview tomorrow. looks like I'll get the job
I can sure use the money
also...
kubuntu linux is kickass
yes. my start button is a monkey icon.
don't ask.
